In 1 Corinthians 12:20, Paul exhorts the Corinthian church to pursue unity by reminding them that, “there are many parts, yet one body.” This same pursuit of unity marks the Fine Arts Department at Ben Lippen School. Each of the individual programs- Visual Art, Theater, Band, Guitar, Choir, Lower School Music, and the Ben Lippen Conservatory- is part of a greater department that works together to advance the mission and vision of Ben Lippen School.
The Fine Arts motto, “Better Together,” summarizes the philosophy that drives our department. Better- meaning that we create art, theater, and music of the highest quality for the glory of God. Together- meaning that we emphasize the importance of community in the process.
Teachers, students, and families in our department live out this philosophy by creating art, theater, and music for three primary reasons:
- For God- We aim to honor God in both our processes and our products because we reflect the Ultimate Creator as mini-creators.
- For Others- We invite others into our creative processes and use our products to serve our community.
- For Fun- We value relationships with those inside and outside of our department and intentionally spend time enjoying life together.
Whether your student is new to our department or has loved the arts for years, we are excited to welcome you to the Fine Arts family! We look forward to partnering with you to create art, theater, and music for God, for others, and for fun.
